Volunteer Research Assistant
Overview
The Dong lab is looking for volunteer/SRP99 students looking to gain dry lab experience.
Job Duties
The Dong Lab is focusing in generating both a macroscale and microscale atlas of the mouse brain. We are seeking for students that will primarily focus on the microscale atlas project involving 3D whole/sliced brain images with neuronal reconstructions done through computer, coding, and VR tools. Students will not only have the chance to learn about the various regions of the brain but will gain insight on how to delineate specific layers of the brain, how various regions are connected to each other, learn many different types of neurons and their morphology, alongside other exciting aspects of the experiments. Under the training and supervision of project managers and technicians, students will be annotating neurons per regions and noting their different morphologies that have never been discovered before. Our lab also has weekly group meetings to give insight on our progress, deadline, and goals per projects; so, students that join the meetings will have time to talk to other members and faculty of the lab. Please apply from UCLA Undergraguate Research Portal (https://urp.my.ucla.edu/opportunities/35777).
